Soul Child Music is vamping up for the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. Errol Reifman has been in the studio compiling all sorts of beats, grooves and jams. SCM just released 2 albums that consist of a total of 42 hip hop instrumentals on errolreifman.bandcamp.com.
Although Reifman does all sorts of music production, underground hip hop has been his main focus. Reifman wants to be known for san diego beat production and will be looking to work with many new artists soon. Errol and Touch of CAS plan to continue the great chemistry with more great hip hop to be released in 2011. Errol Reifman will be dropping another instrumental album soon too! Stay tuned for all the great news coming soon from Soul Child Music!
What happened to the solo?

So after watching the SDMA’s (San Diego Music Awards) on Sep. 12th 2010 I realized that there was not one solo in all of the live performances that night! Not one bad ass guitar solo. Not one Horn Solo! Not one scat, harmonica, keyboard or drum solo! WHERE ARE THE SOLOS???
This amazed me due to the fact that most live acts were rock based music. This is sad when the artistic virtuosity of a bad ass musician is completely gone from modern rock and most music of today. Is it because those bands or musicians cant solo? Is it because they feel the modern audience doesn’t want a solo? I cant figure it out?

Soul Child Music Nominated For Best Hip Hop Album

Soul Child Music’s first release (Touch of CAS – The Real) was nominated for best Hip Hop Album San Diego Music Awards 2010. This was a great honor for Errol and Craig being the first project either of them had ever completed and released on their own. The award went to another band and congrats to all nominees and winners!
I do feel the San Diego Music Awards could have some changes to make them a better music awards. I could not believe that there isn’t a R&B genre?? This genre is one of the top 5 genres in the world! If James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Al Green or Stevie Wonder were an up and coming artist here in San Diego there would not be a category for them!
